Katniss Everdeen is a teenager living in District 12. There used to be 13 districts but the 13th tried to start a riot and it got toxic-ally bombed by the government. The book i set many years ahead in what is perceived to be future America. Anyways, every year The Hunger Games is hosted to remind the districts how easy the government can destroy them and to remind them of what happened. Two contestants from each District are pitted against all of the others and stuck in a dome where they will fight to the death. Whoever is the last standing wins and gets a new home and everything they've always wanted. Katniss' father died when she was young, and since then she has been the leader of her family of three [mom, her, and sister. Then, on the day of the drawing Katniss' sister is chosen, but instead Katniss volunteers in her place. For the boys, a guy named Paul is chosen.l Katniss soon realizes that Paul did a good deed for her when her dad died, he gave her two loaves of slightly baked bread for her and her family even though his mother slapped him for it. Then they are taken to the City district District 1 I believe and they are trained and mentored. Then, they are pitted in the dome. I can't remember exactly what happened but I can give you a basic run down. Katniss and Paul pretend to fall in love. Paul is really in love with her even though Katniss isn't sure. At one point an announcer says that if there are still two people left from the same district they can win. At the end, Katniss and Paul are both left when the announcer changes what he said, only one can win. Katniss gets an idea. She picks some poison berries and her and Paul almost eat them. Then the announcer says that they both can win. When they get back to where they were first trained, Katniss says that she was just playing the part. Paul gets angry and basically gives her the cold shoulder most of the time. Then in the very end he says "one last time for the cameras" and they hold hands. A second book is on it's way. I must say this was a very good book and anybody will  like it.

The mockingjay represents defiance in the novel. Its a capitals failure bird that was ment to spy on them. Katniss mockingjay pin was given  by madge supposedly to protect katniss. Katniss used it to cominicate with rue in the games. When she is killed, she covers her in flowers to defy the capitol. Katniss is allways defing the capitol to make them know they don't own her, like the mockingjays that defy the capitol.This represents not only a general rebellion against the Capitol, but also Katniss’s specific desire to defy it. Another symbol of the book are katniss' dresses. Katniss is represented as the girl on fire because of her entrance with flames to panem; which was a symbol of distict12. Judges like her temper and heat, so in the games she is attacked by fire balls as a joke to "The girl on fire".

This the setting happend at poor conditions ruled by the capitol unfairly. If this story had occured in a more advanced community the citizens could have raised a revolution usinig technology and weapons. Also This year the games occur in a forest. The forest is not a very hard scenario for the games to occur because it provides them different resources. They had water to drink, animals to hunt, fruits to eat, trees to climb and to make fire, etc. If the games had occured in a desert, the harsh conditions would make the competitors last a small amount of time before they get killed. Even though they allready face many problems, the capitol can add anything in the senario to make the challange harder.

The Hunger Games is about survival, and keeping your humanity and dignity as you try to survive. Katniss and Peeta must both survive the games, but they can't convert to another piece of the games. They need to still be part of their daily life in the district and do not turn into a monster. In the districts, theh need to deal with the lack of food and poor life with a positive actitude. Some people give up and others are just depressed, heartless or mentaly unstable. Katniss is a survivor, she keeps her family going the tough time after her father's death, bringing them all they need, and staying strong. Katniss must stay strong and in control in order to keep her family alive. She continues being like this during the Hunger Games. Peeta also thinks this ways and wants to die being himself, not like other tributes that go insane or become very violent and homicidal, eating competitor's hearts and doing everything to win.

It is called The hunger games the book because its all about the games. An anual game where tribites participate in a chanlange for their lives, with only one winner. If in the book there where not hunger games organized by the capitol there would not be a problem to read about. For many years this anual competition of life has occured, but this year is diferent. Brave Katniss with the help of Peeta will break the tradition in a risky way. The capitol will be mad and later will take revange.

CHARACTERS

-KATNISS: she is the narrator from distric 12 wich sruggles to afford life. For feeding her family she does illegal hunting with her bestfriend Gale. She has olive skin, brunette hair and brown eyes, she is very pretty. Katniss is protective, determinated, and strong. She says that she is not likeable to people, but actually everybody loves her.

-PEETA: Tribute for District 12, and he is a baker. He is loyal and brave, and will do whatever it takes for Katniss to survive, because he has been in love with her since they were five years old. Katniss acts like being in love with him only to get sponsors. Peeta is a doll. He has ashy blond hair, blue eyes and he is so strong.; he is goregus.

-RUE: Small, was not assumed that she would last long in the games; but her knowledge of trees, plants, climbing and hiding keeps her alive. Has dark eyes and dark skin. Allies with katniss.

-Cato: District 2 male tribute and the leader of the Career pack. He trained for the Games his entire life, and  was described as a "ruthless killing machine". He was extremely strong and the tribute most likely to be crowned the victor.

-Clove:The female tribute from District 2.  She was very skilled with throwing knives.

-Glimmer: — The female tribute from District 1 was beautiful, sexy, and tall, with blonde hair and green eyes. She was part of the Career pack

-Marvel: The male tribute from District 1, who was a strong and ruthless Career.

-Effie Trinket: — The District 12 escort, who is a happy  person. She wears many different colored wigs and helps Katniss and Peeta get sponsors in the Games. Hates people with no maners.

. — Haymitch: is Katniss' and Peeta's mentor. He is drunk at almost always, to forget his memories of the hunger games. But he help alot katniss and Peeta

-Gale Hawthorne: The best friend of Katniss, their fathers both died in the same mining explosion. Gale hunts with Katniss in the forest usually everyday. He is very king and handsom.

-Primrose Everdeen: The small sister of Katniss. She was chosen as tribute, but Katniss volunteered to take her place. She has a goat named Lady, and a cat named Buttercup. Prim has a heart full of compassion and she is a talented healer.  

I decide to read this book because I already saw the movie and it is my favorite until now. I love Peeta from the movie because he is a doll, but they told me the book was ten times better so I am really exited to read it. I like reading books where they have a different type of world like city of bones and the giver. I also love the book to have romance because otherwise I find it pretty boring. So this book is perfect to read!
